Sunday School – 10:00 AM
Worship – 11:00 AM (Job 1:1:, 2:1-10)
Today we begin a month-long series on Job and begin by asking “Where was God?” when Job began to endure his time of suffering. No matter what kind of tragedy strikes us, it seems that’s one of the first questions we ask. Whenever we encounter something that really tests our resolve, we want to know why God let it happen, why He didn’t stop or and, most of all, why it seems like He has turned his back on us. Rest assured: While it may seem that God has turned His back, He really was there all along. Don’t understand? That’s OK. Come hear this message of hope as we tackle this issue together. My prayer that, especially in light of the shooting at Umpqua Community College this week, we are all reminded that God is always present and ready to provide His healing.
If you have hurts, doubts, questions or even anger towards God, come and find healing. If you have issues with people, come and be reconciled. You are welcome, just as you are.
We will also celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion (or the Lord’s Supper, or the Eucharist if you prefer one of those terms), which is especially meaningful as today is World Communion Sunday.
Head over to our Facebook page to find out some of the latest announcements. You will see that we have a lot going on, including a winter clothing drive (geared mainly for adults), a men’s prayer breakfast, as well as the re-launch of our youth program next week.
